We are meeting tomorrow (Saturday) night at the Rose and Crown, Tilshead at 9pm for a drink and then, weather permitting, a late session at our Tilshead site. Due to the time of year the focus will be on planetary and cometary. All are welcome, please drop us a line if you are intending to come so we don’t leave you behind!
We haven’t met for a while so we will have a meetup – whatever the weather – at the Ship Inn at Upavon this Saturday. Meeting time will be confirmed but likely to be between 8 and 9pm. In the increasingly unlikely event that the weather will be clear we will then move to Casterleigh Camp for observing.
As usual please let us know if you are coming.
Well one look at the weather forecast tells us that not only won’t the skies be clear tomorrow, you’ll probably only be able to get to the site by canoe, so we’re cancelling this weekend’s meet. Keep watching for a revised date…
First, the bad news… according to the nice people running the STEREO sun-monitoring satellite, “The STEREO HI-1 instrument has limiting mag ~m13.5. The dust cloud we know as Comet #ISON is barely visible in those images now…”. So I think we will be standing down on any visual observing of ISON.
But never mind! We have a full sky of other things to look at, so we will be meeting this Saturday night for an observing session. The session will be at our Tilshead site – meet at the Rose and Crown, Tilshead at 8pm, all welcome! Please let us know if you’re coming so we don’t leave anyone behind.
